After the loss of all of my animation work due to technical failure i have now redone the tank, which looks even better than before and it works much better than the old version.
The tank looks a lot more basic than the older version but i've decided to work harder on the animation side rather than the modelling side.

Tank Tracks
Ben showed me a different way on how to make the tank tracks work. It worked the old way but had a slight problem with the tracks flipping upside down as they went along. The tracks now work extremely well and look better than the old version. From research on you tube my tracks look a bit more cartoonish than an actual army tank however I want this effect because it inst supposed to be realistic.

Target
Finally decided on how the targets are going to look, just got to animate the holes being blown into them. Started on the mini E4s with earmuffs but they are harder to make than I had anticipated.... This is my final design for the targets -
Target
Started to texture a target for the range, it's quite cool and rather I'm just wondering whether or not it should have the E4 logo with a background like it is at the present time or if it should just be the E4 logo on its own. Currently I've had no problems other than deciding the target look.
25th November
My aim for today is to complete my tank with moving caterpillar tracks. Throughout making the tank I have come across certain problems especially with the moving tracks, the main problem is the time it takes to add each individual track. Well it's going to be a triumph to make the animation I want, but I do hope this will be a huge success. Creating the tank so far has been tough but it's hard to overstate my satisfaction. However I am still alive.

Research/ Other
I've found some pictures of army tanks that I will use as a reference to help model my tank. I've decided not to put too much detail in to the models, and just get the basic outline of them.
Researching for firing ranges proved to be a bit more nitty gritty than I had imagined, therefore I had to do a bit more research for reference images but have now found some pretty decent reference images.
Displace maps were easy once I had a refresh on how to do them from Ben, I'm going to use the displace map to create my terrain. The only problem is the fact it needs quite a large amount of polygons to get a good result and its not easy to make a good terrain.
